The fuel-cycle rung sold off hard — Uranium Energy -6.7% on heavy volume despite its own security-council news — while the nuclear-heavy power producers held the AI bid, Vistra +2.7%.

Vistra (VST) led the nuclear basket Tuesday, up 2.7% to $162.36, as the nuclear-heavy independent power producers kept taking the AI-data-center power bid. The move was a continuation of the structural re-rating around reactor-backed supply deals — Constellation's Google-backed 890 MW plan the template — rather than a Tuesday catalyst, and the rest of the generation rung came along quietly: GE Vernova (GEV) +0.7% to $1,004.04, Constellation (CEG) +0.6% to $295.79, Talen (TLN) +0.6% to $382.14. Reactor-forging supplier Japan Steel Works (JPSWY) was firm at +2.6% to $21.97 in its own session. The demand-side thesis — that the grid, not the reactor, is the binding constraint on AI compute — held.

The laggard sat on the opposite end of the chain: the fuel cycle. Uranium Energy (UEC) fell 6.7% to $8.24 on heavy volume, and notably it fell despite its own bullish disclosure that day — the formation of a National Security Advisory Council to support its uranium-conversion expansion. No source ties the drop to company news; it was a broad give-back across the enrichment-and-conversion chokepoint, the Western-fuel-independence rung that had run hard. Silex (SILXY) -6.6% to $12.98, Energy Fuels (UUUU) -4.0% to $9.27, NexGen (NXE) -1.3% to $8.47, Denison (DNN) -1.7% to $2.33, with Cameco (CCJ) flat at $86.15. UEC now trades below both its 50- and 200-day averages — a momentum unwind, not a thesis break.

The small-modular-reactor names, where valuation is richest and cash flows furthest out, were the other soft spot: NuScale (SMR) -3.1% to $6.49, X-energy (XE) -2.8% to $12.72, Oklo (OKLO) -1.3% to $31.78. The more established fabrication and components rung held better — BWX Technologies (BWXT) -0.8% to $138.86, NANO Nuclear (NNE) +0.4% to $14.35. The session's read is that the market still prizes operating nuclear megawatts (the IPPs) over the long-dated fuel and new-build options when risk appetite thins.

The calendar turns earnings-heavy and policy-dense into year-end. BWXT reports Q3 on November 2 and NANO Nuclear gives its fiscal year-end update November 15. The harder structural catalysts cluster in December: X-energy's Xe-100 construction permit hits an NRC 18-month review milestone around December 16, and the Westinghouse/US-government definitive agreements plus Bulgaria's Kozloduy AP1000 final investment decision are both targeted for year-end — the dated events that would convert the new-build narrative into contracted backlog for the fabrication and fuel rungs that sold off Tuesday.
