The SMR and enrichment rungs surrendered more ground in a rate-driven risk-off, radiation-instrumentation leader Mirion the worst hit, with only Solstice holding green.
Solstice Advanced Materials (SOLS) was the lone green name in the vertical Monday, up 0.5% to $56.93 — essentially flat, but the only tick higher in an otherwise all-red basket. Solstice sits on the uranium conversion-and-deconversion rung, a scarce domestic-capacity story that the market has been treating as more defensive than the pre-revenue reactor developers. There was no specific catalyst behind the modest gain; in a session where the 10-year yield hit 5.24%, holding flat was itself the outperformance.
The laggard was Mirion Technologies (MIR), down 8.0% to $14.35 on the instrumentation, controls, and outage-services chokepoint. There was no fresh company news; the move sat against a backdrop of net insider selling (roughly $20 million over twelve months) and pushed the stock near its 52-week low of $14.11. The structural irony is that radiation detection and outage services are among the most recurring, defensive revenue streams in nuclear — but the stock de-rated in sympathy with the speculative SMR complex rather than on its own fundamentals.
The broader tape was the SMR-and-advanced-reactor rung surrendering more of its post-vote gains on the theme's core unresolved problem: commercial commitments that have not yet converted into signed, funded projects. NuScale (SMR) −6.1% to $7.91, NANO Nuclear (NNE) −4.9%, and Oklo (OKLO) −2.4% — both NuScale and Oklo now down roughly half on the year. The enrichment-and-HALEU and conversion rungs followed: Centrus (LEU) −4.6% to $140.37, Lightbridge (LTBR) −5.4%, and the fuel-cycle prime BWXT −3.0%. Uranium was softer but more resilient — Cameco (CCJ) −1.2%, Uranium Energy (UEC) −2.1%, Energy Fuels (UUUU) −2.8% — as rising rates hit the long-duration buildout names hardest.
The catalysts ahead are licensing- and financing-driven. The NRC's final Environmental Impact Statement for GLE's Paducah laser-enrichment facility is the near-term enrichment-rung signal, and the Westinghouse/US government definitive agreements replacing the binding term sheet are expected in H2 2026. X-Energy's Xe-100 construction permit hits an NRC review milestone around December 16, and BWXT reports Q3 on November 2. On the demand side, Bulgaria's Kozloduy Units 7-8 AP1000 final investment decision is targeted for H2 2026 — a rare hard order for the large-reactor supply chain.
