Jefferies' Buy call sent Mirion to the top of the basket as uranium miners rallied on risk-on beta, not spot.

Mirion Technologies (MIR) led the vertical, up 7.6% to $16.76, after Jefferies initiated coverage with a Buy rating and a $20 price target. Mirion owns the radiation-detection-and-measurement chokepoint — the dosimetry, monitoring and instrumentation that every reactor, fuel-cycle facility and medical-isotope line is legally required to run. It is the rare nuclear-adjacent name whose demand scales with the entire fleet rather than a single project, which is why an analyst initiation moved it as sharply as it did on an already-firm tape.

The laggard was the sector's largest cash generator: Constellation Energy (CEG) eased 1.7% to $285.05. Constellation is the operating-fleet and behind-the-meter power chokepoint — the merchant nuclear capacity data centers are contracting directly — and on a risk-on session that favored higher-beta growth it was a source of funds rather than a story. Its softness was idiosyncratic to the utility complex, not a read on the reactor thesis; the developer and miner tiers went the other way.

The rally was concentrated in uranium equities even though the commodity barely moved — spot held near $89.50/lb — so the session was equity beta, not a spot-price event. Denison Mines (DNN) rose 5.9% to $3.41, Cameco (CCJ) 4.4% to $100.62, NexGen (NXE) 4.4% to $10.67, and the Sprott Uranium Miners ETF (URNM) 4.1% to $57.20, with enCore (EU) +3.3% — the mine-supply chokepoint bid as risk appetite returned. The enrichment-and-components tier was more selective: BWX Technologies (BWXT) added 2.9% to $160.25 on naval and SMR component work, while the SMR developers were mixed — NuScale (SMR) +2.0% to $9.75, Oklo (OKLO) +0.8% to $39.84. Centrus (LEU) slipped 0.6%, a reminder the domestic-enrichment chokepoint trades on its own contract flow.

The near calendar is policy- and fuel-cycle-heavy. The World Nuclear Symposium runs in London September 9–11, the industry's main supply-and-demand read. The NRC's final Environmental Impact Statement for GLE's Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility is expected around the end of September — a step toward diversifying the enrichment chokepoint away from Russian and European supply. Further out, BWXT reports Q3 on November 2 and NANO Nuclear posts its Q4 FY2026 update November 15. For now the read is clear: the trade is still in the miners and the instrumentation, not yet in operating-fleet cash flows.
