Fluor's Q2 beat and a $6.1B award haul sent the nuclear EPC choke up 17% while the fuel-cycle and SMR-developer names ripped on a dovish tape — Curtiss-Wright the lone red, still bleeding a post-earnings pullback.

Fluor led the basket, up +16.9% to $57.00 and a fresh 52-week high, after a Q2 report that beat and reset the story: adjusted EPS of $0.91 topped the $0.71 estimate, revenue of $4.33B cleared consensus, $6.1B of new awards lifted backlog toward $27B, and the company sold its stake in the ICA-Fluor Mexican joint venture for $175M. In this vertical's map Fluor is the engineering-and-construction chokepoint — the EPC contractor that actually builds reactors and the datacenter power blocks now driving nuclear demand, and the majority owner of SMR developer NuScale. The move is the cleanest expression of where the buildout bottleneck sits: not in the reactor design, but in the scarce EPC capacity that turns a license into poured concrete.

The laggard was a hangover. Curtiss-Wright fell −3.2% to $691.52, extending a post-earnings slide (−4.6% the prior session) that has persisted despite a genuinely strong quarter — adjusted EPS of $3.72 beat, sales rose 5% to $924M, margins expanded and full-year guidance went up. Curtiss-Wright is the naval-reactor-and-nuclear-components choke, supplying the reactor coolant pumps and control-rod drive mechanisms for AP1000s and naval propulsion; the two-day fade is valuation-and-timing profit-taking on a richly-priced name, not a broken thesis.

Beneath the two poles the fuel-cycle and developer layer ripped, helped by a weak jobs print that pushed yields down and rewarded long-duration bets. At the enrichment choke Centrus Energy rose +7.5% and X-Energy +8.8%; among the reactor developers Oklo jumped +14.8% to $48.42 into its own Q2 print and NANO Nuclear +7.0%, with NuScale +3.7%. The front-end uranium names firmed across the board — enCore +8.7%, Energy Fuels +9.6%, Uranium Energy +4.6%, Cameco +4.0% — as the whole supply chain from mine to enrichment caught the risk-on bid. It was a beta session that happened to favor exactly the capital-hungry corners of the fuel cycle.

The calendar is front-loaded. Oklo reports Q2 today (August 10), NuScale follows August 12 and X-Energy August 13. The World Nuclear Symposium convenes in London September 9–11. The structural items to watch are the NRC's final Environmental Impact Statement for GLE's Paducah laser-enrichment facility and the USGS critical-minerals reassessment cycle — the regulatory gates that decide how fast the domestic enrichment choke actually widens.
